Cipriano
The oralitura (oral transmission) of this artist´s works connects two or more planes of reality, between the infinite of the immaterial and the simplicity of existence. His stroke is his signature, the unique and exclusive tension of his writer-painter´s hand; visible and sensitive in all that he draws. The voice of his work is heard in chants and melodies, many of them transcribed in the paints on his canvasses.
His works hail and celebrate his origins— those from here in Petrópolis and those from the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. Decolonizing the mind and promoting Afro-descendant art, writing stories that revisit his ancestors through the artistic creation of the invisible in the visible.
His works are produced with black checkered powder, lime, charcoal and chalkstone and are charged with symbolisms from the spiritual yards. These are the cards and spells, offerings and metaphors that we witness in the artist´s pictorial installations. Demonstrating the ancestral wisdom and knowledge that shaped him as a living being in movement, the artist occupies and involves the space, promoting territories that are sensitive to the presence of Black people.
